Guidelines
The organizing committee of ICASSP 2026 invites proposals for Satellite Workshops, aiming to enrich the conference program, attract a wider audience, and enhance inclusivity for students and engineering professionals. The ICASSP Satellite Workshops will be half- or full-day events and will take place before the main technical program at the conference venue.
This year, we particularly emphasize interdisciplinarity and require workshops to be at the intersection of signal processing and at least one other discipline/domain such as physics, neuroscience, other engineering disciplines among others. Collaboration with other societies of the IEEE is also welcome. The main emphasis is on emerging topics that are not specifically covered within the main conference.
Workshops are different from special sessions as they have considerable flexibility in the program format and may include a mix of submitted papers presented as oral presentations and/or posters, invited presentations/keynotes, as well as panels, encouraging participation of attendees in active discussions. Papers summarizing the panel discussions, as well as challenges and opportunities in the selected topic will be considered for publication in the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine as columns.
Submitted workshop papers should abide by the ICASSP-2026 paper style, format, and length. They will be reviewed using the same platform used for the main conference following similar criteria and published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library with a separate workshop record number. There must be an author of each accepted workshop paper to present the paper in-person.

- Organizers’ Affiliation: Organizer name(s), affiliation(s), address(es), and email(s).
- Duration/Type: Half or full day event.
- Short Abstract: Summary of the main focus (up to 200 words)
- Expected number of attendees and justification: Why both the regular ICASSP attendees and those from outside this group would want to attend the event and would be interested in the topic?
- Publication of the workshop papers at the IEEE Xplore Digital Library: Yes/No
- Short Abstract: Short abstract with the main idea (up to 200 words)
- Keywords
- Summary: Describe the main motivation, main topics that are covered, expected impact and the outcomes and planned dissemination (up to 1000 words, including a few references if necessary). Explicit statements should be made as to why the subject(s) covered warrant a dedicated workshop outside the main conference, how this would complement the main conference and addressing its relevance, how it could generate a new momentum in the field, and aspects of novelty, interdisciplinarity, and synergies with other disciplines/areas. In addition, details should be provided if any competition or data challenges are planned.
- Planned composition: State the planned components of the workshop, such as contributed papers (to be reviewed), invited presentations/keynotes, panel discussions, data challenges. State the names and prospective titles for invited presentations/keynotes. Provide tentative information on specific contributors, if known.
- Organizer Bios: Short bios of the organizers, including expertise on the proposed topic (e.g. relevant publications or projects), experience with organizing similar events in the past and a personal website link (up to 500 words).
Proposal evaluation:
The proposals are required to be interdisciplinary, and clearly distinct from what could be covered with a Special Session or Tutorial.
The proposals will be judged based on the following criteria:
- novelty and timeliness
- expected interest and participation by ICASSP attendees
- potential to attract attendees from other disciplines/domains
- credentials of the organizer(s)
- overall quality of the proposal and completeness of provided information
Workshop Logistics:
Organizers of ICASSP 2026 Satellite Workshops will be responsible for the workshop’s scientific planning and promotion, including the setup of their external website, which will be linked from the main ICASSP 2026 site, running of the paper reviewing process, undertaking all communication with the submitted paper authors, creating and announcing the event schedule, abiding by the deadlines listed above, and seamlessly communicating with the Workshop Chairs.
The ICASSP 2026 organizers will handle workshop registration, allocation of facilities, and distribution of the workshop papers in electronic format. Note that workshop attendance will be free-of-charge for the main conference registrants, while a reduced registration fee will be charged to workshop-only attendees.
